My Addiction

My name is Richard and I am a foodaholic. I can't quit this addiction.  I can't go to rehab and say, "I'm cured!! I don't eat anymore!"   It is something I must deal with everyday.

The best way for me to deal with my addiction is to constantly work at eating healthy and regularly.  I read nutritional labels.  I use calorie counters and guides to total everything that goes in my mouth.

I use my measuring cups, spoons, and scales to make sure I am getting the proper serving sizes.  (It still amazes me how much food I used to- and will - eat if I don't measure.)   I use Sparkpeople.com to track my calories and fitness EVERY day.  It's amazing how fast fat, and calories will add up if I don't track them constantly!

I also plan ahead as much as possible.  If I plan the day before what I am going to eat the next day, I will usually stick to it.  (It also helps me in the time department!)  If I don't plan ahead, it usually ends in overeating and heavy snacking while trying to figure it all out!

It is a constant battle, but I am succeeding.  I have lost over 50 lbs in the last two years and 25 of that has been in the last 3 1/2 months.  (update- it's now up to 80 lbs!!)

This blog is to help myself and any others to cook and enjoy healthy foods.  I hope some of this will help you.
